Providing Early Childhood Education to Fort Collins Since 1974
The primary environment offers a full range of materials designed to stimulate the children's own natural desire to learn. In a non-competitive environment, students are encouraged to work at their own level. Coordination, concentration, attention to detail, creativity, and a healthy cycle are facilitated using concrete materials in Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Math, and Cultural areas. All classes share Children's House's beautiful playground.
The kindergarten program provides a stimulating learning environment in a small group setting of 12 children. It addresses the unique needs of five year olds and is also seen as an extra year for a child who is a "young five" or just missed the cut-off date for a public school kindergarten. This program encourages the development of math and language concepts integrated into areas of art, music, science, geography, and a variety of cultural activities. The indoor, outdoor environments of the school encourage freedom of exploration in a carefully prepared environment.
The Children's House Montessori School was founded in 1974 based on the principals and philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori. The school has morning and afternoon primary and kindergarten classes.
Children's House Montessori School is dedicated to providing excellence by helping the child build within himself the foundations for a lifetime of creative learning.
It operates as a non-denominational, private day school and it accepts applications for children between the ages of 2.5 and 6 years of age regardless of race, creed, or national background.
The school is staffed by certified, experienced Montessori teachers and trained assistants. The schedule follows that of Poudre R-1 public schools.
